Notice Regarding Updated Housing Policies
On October 16, 2019, Siksika Nation Chief and Council approved by quorum, the updated Siksika Nation Housing Service Area general policies.
These policies were developed in consultation with Siksika Nation members in the community. Some of the specific changes in the update include:
Change in the minimum age of applicants. To be eligible for rental housing, applicants must be minimum 23 years of age.
Effective April 1, 2020, rental charges will be a flat monthly fee of $325.00 for all band owned housing units.
When a tenant is involved or is found supporting in illegal activity in the unit, such as drug trafficking, they will be in violation of the lease agreements and will be notified that they have two weeks to vacate the property.
In the event the tenant fails to vacate, the housing department will also have the tenant removed from the home by court appointed authorities.
